Monochrome Hopes

Originally written to: Missing Link by NOVELS

Smile struggling to appear on me
I don't understand why it's so important

It's not that I am hurt, but there's no reason to grin
So why do you keep on beaming at me?

I just want to go on my merry way
And not stare at those silly faces you are making

Why would you want me to smile so badly?
I really didn't know until you said...

"Monochrome hopes are blank
There's no need to pretend you have any.
So you must reach out,
And grab ahold of your dreams."

A smile played on my face, I called you a friend
No matter what happened, I would never hurt you

Even through the rough, you would wear a grin
Strength never faltering, at least not visibly

My heart broken, you gave me a smile
That told me everything would be okay

Yet you lay there, your death closing in
Eyes shutting, you took the last line

"Monochrome hopes are blank
There's no need to pretend you have any.
So you must reach out,
And grab ahold of your dreams."

A strange beaming face
Hopefully affectionate
Hopelessly naive
But...

To everyone before me, I repeated your words

"Monochrome hopes are blank
There's no need to pretend you have any.
So you must reach out,
And grab ahold of your dreams."

Embrace who you are
Don't let your ambition fall away
It will not be easy to stay strong
But hold on to your hope
